Deduct-A-Buck
The Deduct-A-Buck program is a great way to get staff, directors, members, and volunteers to contribute directly to legislative advocacy. Every buck counts so start getting your credit union members involved in the Deduct-A-Buck program!
Be sure your credit union has a signed Permission Agreement on file. Fill this out here.
Obtain Board approval to implement the Deduct-A-Buck program. A joint solicitation supporting both the Federal America’s Credit Unions PAC and Maine CULAC is recommended.
Make sure you are soliciting donations only from members and their families, credit union’s Board of Directors and their families, and employees who are members of the credit union. Any solicitation that has the potential of going to more than 3% of persons outside the credit union group specified above is prohibited.
Ensure the credit union is acting as a “Collecting Agent,” by recording all individual contributions and keeping PAC monies separate. Only individuals may donate to Deduct-A-Buck. Please reach out to the GA team for all corporate contributions.
Be sure to send donations in a timely manner. For contributions less than $50, please send within 14 days; contributions greater than $50 must be sent within 5 days.
For any marketing materials you create, ensure proper disclaimers. Disclaimers can be provided by reaching out to the League’s Governmental Affairs team.
Dress Down for CULAC
Throughout the year, the Maine Credit Union League’s Governmental Affairs team organizes “Dress Down” weeks to support CULAC. During these weeks, employees at participating credit unions contribute an amount determined by their institution in exchange for the opportunity to dress casually.
2026 Dress Down Weeks:
March 16 – 20
June 15 – 19
October 12 – 16
December 14 – 18
